Pivot
Point first caught my attention with its gorgeous cover. After I read the
synopsis I knew this was going to be a wonderful read and it was that and so
much more! I could hardly turn the pages fast enough (on my Kindle device of
course!); I was allured from the very beginning. The story's concept is just so
creative and fascinating. The main character Addie has an incredible ability
and the whole story just revolves around that and it's brilliant. Time-travel
is one of my favorite ideas to read about so I was itching for a new book and
Pivot Point essentially explores the what-if scenario.
If
you had a life altering decision to make wouldn't you want to know both
outcomes before you made it? That's what Addison Coleman can do—she can see her
own two possible futures and live through them as if they're real before making
a decision which bares both its benefits and consequences. Her mental power as
a Searcher is only useful to herself and she finds she needs it most when her
parents shock her with the news that there getting divorced and she has to
choose between who she wants to live with—her mom or her dad. While searching
these two paths Addison finds out both choices lead to greatly unexpected
outcomes which includes both love and loss.
Addie lives in a paranormal advanced community of people who have higher functioning brains that gives them amazing mind abilities normal humans don't possess. The real world knows nothing of these sophisticated beings and that's the way it has to remain—until Abbie's father decides to move into Norm-society where there are no abilities. While Addie's mother chooses to remain living in the secretive civilization known as the Compound. The Compound is hidden within a mountain and cloaked by an illusion so no one can accidentally stumble across it.
In both possible futures there are two potential love interests, Duke and Trevor. They both seem perfect but once the surface is scratched you start to see there faults which is ever-so-revealing. You'll be completely fooled by who you thought they were, I know I was! *Insert fun plot twist here*. It's good stuff! Trevor is the cute and kind boy who you'd label as a nerd but then realize he's super hot. Duke is the opposite, he's an arrogant, popular jock who is every girl's high school fantasy and Addie finds herself with the two of them in divergent futures—but who will she choose?
The smallest flaws for me that could be found was I started to really dislike Addison's best friend Leila whose personality I feel changes from what initially made her enjoyable and charming. Also there were some dragged on scenes I felt were unnecessary to the story's development. Overall though the positives obliterated all the negatives which is why I rated Pivot Point a well-deserved 4.5/5 stars*.

Pivot
Point was fun, complex in theory, with a likeable female lead and has some
really cool secondary characters that felt very real and relateable. I
totally enjoyed Addie's snarky attitude and resourcefulness. Her character
really grows and she develops such inner strength over the course of the book.
The ending will leave you feeling satisfied yet craving more! I'd recommend
this book to all paranormal and science fiction addicts because this is a
fantastic read and a uniquely superb anomaly amongst its kind!
