~ Waiting on Wednesday (WoW) is a weekly meme post hosted by: Jill from Breaking the Spine that showcases not-yet-released books that I'm eagerly awaiting to read! ~
I'm waiting for:
Shattered Promises
(Shattered Promises, #1)
By: Jessica Sorensen
Release Date: January 2013- sometime this month!! Unspecified date.
Genre: New Adult Fantasy
Synopsis:
**Mature Content Warning** 17+ for language and sexual
content.
(A re-imagining of The Fallen Star told as a New Adult
Fantasy)
For twenty-one year-old Gemma, life has never been normal. Up
until recently, she’s been incapable of feeling emotion. She knows nothing
about her past and has been haunted by the same monsters in her nightmares for
the last three years. She spends most of her days keeping to herself,
friendless, and feeling like there’s so much more to life then loneliness.
Then she meets Alex and her secluded word quickly crumbles. Alex
is sexy, arrogant, and makes her feel things she didn’t think were possible.
When she’s near him, there’s an electric connection that makes her skin buzz
and her inhibitions melt.
Why am I waiting?
First
off I loved LOVED loved the Fallen Star series! It was great; and the
characters were incredible HOWEVER, I had this nagging feeling that they were a
little too safe when there was obvious underlying adult content waiting to be
explored so imagine my feelings when I found out Jessica Sorensen was rewriting
this beloved series but as a more adult version. I pretty much died from
happiness! I can't wait to see some of the characters adapted into more adult
roles. Already I know this going to be fantastic and I love the cover - the
original Fallen Star's cover was underdone in my opinion even for a YA; but
this is so appropriate and looks steamy. This is pretty much a second chance to
read a re-imagining of a story I've gotten to know and love and improve upon
characters that have already been created - so evidently I'm looking
forward to this release!
OTHER BOOKS I'M WAITING ON:
(Between, #1)
Release Date: August 20th, 2013
Genre: YA Paranormal/Fantasy
Synopsis:
You stop fearing the devil when you’re holding his hand…
Nothing much exciting rolls through Violet White’s sleepy, seaside town…until River West comes along. River rents the guesthouse behind Violet’s crumbling estate, and as eerie, grim things start to happen, Violet begins to wonder about the boy living in her backyard. Is River just a crooked-smiling liar with pretty eyes and a mysterious past? Or could he be something more? Violet’s grandmother always warned her about the Devil, but she never said he could be a dark-haired boy who takes naps in the sun, who likes coffee, who kisses you in a cemetery...who makes you want to kiss back. Violet’s already so knee-deep in love, she can’t see straight. And that’s just how River likes it.
Blending faded decadence and the thrilling dread of gothic horror, April Genevieve Tucholke weaves a dreamy, twisting contemporary romance, as gorgeously told as it is terrifying—a debut to watch.

The Ocean at the End of the Lane
By: Neil Gaiman
Release
Date: June 18th, 2013
Genre: Adult
Fantasy/Horror
Synopsis:
THE OCEAN AT THE END OF THE LANE is a fable that reshapes modern
fantasy: moving, terrifying and elegiac - as pure as a dream, as delicate as a
butterfly's wing, as dangerous as a knife in the dark, from storytelling genius
Neil Gaiman.
It began for our narrator forty years ago when the family lodger stole their
car and committed suicide in it, stirring up ancient powers best left
undisturbed. Dark creatures from beyond the world are on the loose, and it will
take everything our narrator has just to stay alive: there is primal horror
here, and menace unleashed - within his family and from the forces that have
gathered to destroy it.
His only defense is three women, on a farm at the end of the lane. The youngest
of them claims that her duckpond is an ocean. The oldest can remember the Big
Bang.
