Waiting on Wednesday (#31)

~ Waiting on Wednesday (WoW) is a weekly meme post hosted by: Jill from Breaking the Spine that showcases not-yet-released books that I'm eagerly awaiting to read! ~

I'm waiting for:

(Baba Yaga, #1

Publisher: Berkley
Release Date: September 2nd, 2014
Genres: Adult Paranormal Fantasy

Synopsis:

Known as the wicked witch of Russian fairy tales, Baba Yaga is not one woman, but rather a title carried by a chosen few. They keep the balance of nature and guard the borders of our world, but don’t make the mistake of crossing one of them…

Older than she looks and powerful beyond measure, Barbara Yager no longer has much in common with the mortal life she left behind long ago. Posing as an herbalist and researcher, she travels the country with her faithful (mostly) dragon-turned-dog in an enchanted Airstream, fulfilling her duties as a Baba Yaga and avoiding any possibility of human attachment.

But when she is summoned by a woman desperate to find her missing child, Barbara suddenly finds herself caught up in a web of deceit and an unexpected attraction to the charming but frustrating Sheriff Liam McClellan.

Now, as Barbara fights both human enemies and Otherworld creatures to save the lives of three innocent children, she discovers that her most difficult battle may be with her own heart…

Why I'm waiting:

Different parts of the world have their own fairy tales and folklore, Eastern European countries tells stories of a creepy witch named Baba Yaga. She's often associated with nature and stealing children if I remember correctly. How I even came to know who/what Yaga is was through the TV show Lost Girl in which she is mentioned. It disturbed and fascinated me simultaneously, and to see an author cover this ancient mythical figure is thrilling. Baba Yaga is ambiguous so anything written about her character is going to be more than what is known or additional knowledge built onto the original accounts. However, it seems Blake will run with the version where there are more than one who holds the title—which is cool. I'm very excited to explore this myth and see how Blake handles this obscure legend.

What do you think of my #WoW feature this week? Will you be adding Wickedly Dangerous to your TBR? Let me know in a comment, and please leave your own links so that I can check them out!
