My Review: (4/5 stars*)

Here isn't your average YA paranormal romance first off its writing style is very unique with a neatly developed story. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would it's a very easy and quick read. Milo's perspective is amusing and I liked that she's determined to help a mysterious boy discover who he is and how he ended up in the middle of the woods without any recollection of his life or how he got there. This book held my attention and kept me reading on which is always a good thing. It did have its moments where the writing was a bit too much for me to handle as it made the main heroine seem younger than she actually was and I got confused on more than one occasion as to whose POV I was reading from. This didn't however affect my opinion on the story because I thought it was really entertaining.

Initially I had warring feelings about "Here" because it didn't progress very quickly, the first 70% or so was just okay for me but then the last 30% of the book was very good and the story finally picked up. I'm not going to lie I almost didn't want to read on further but I thought better than to judge it without reading it all so I did and I'm happy I decided to continue. Milo Mitchell is a smart courageous girl who ends up getting in way over her head when she mistakenly shoots a dart at a strange boy. Stranger yet is that she could have sworn she darted a female baby deer so that she could tag and track it like her father use to do. However, when this boy wakes up he doesn't know anything about himself or how he got to where he is. Now Milo and this puzzling boy seeks answers and what they discover puts them both in colossal danger.

Overall a good YA paranormal read. If you can accept the style of writing and push yourself to finish it then you'll probably end up liking it. It was compelling enough that I want to pick up the second book in the series called Trapped. Here leaves off right when things start getting good and you're left with an action packed cliffhanger. Ella James writes a very fascinating novel and I can't wait to read some of her other works and continue this story!

Synopsis:

Milo Mitchell's life used to be charmed, but that was before her family dissolved, she went a little crazy, and her best friends started acting more like strangers. Spending Saturday morning in a treehouse with a stun gun for company and a herd of deer for friends is the only exciting thing in her life...until she shoots a fawn and finds her dart stuck in a guy.

Her gorgeous victim is dressed in a Brioni tux and armed with a hanky. He has no idea who or where he is. Afraid her dart caused his amnesia, Milo takes him in, names him Nick, and vows to help him solve his mystery. Soon the pair find Nick's face in a newspaper obituary, and Nick beings to have strange, ethereal memories of Milo--who is sure she's never met him. Suddenly Nick knows things he shouldn't know and is doing things he shouldn't do. When the Department of Defense shows up, Nick and Milo run--toward a shocking conclusion that could destroy both their worlds.
