I'm a sucker for vampire novels and I especially appreciate ones that are so unique from the rest. Bad Blood proves to be both entertaining and a hell of a lot of fun! I didn't expect the protagonist of the story to be so sarcastic and humorous which took me pleasantly by surprise. I consumed this book rather fiercely, it had a twistedly great story with easy to fall in love with characters. It was reminiscent of Twilight but further diverges from that once the whole story unfolds thus becoming its own. I loved that it wasn't just another clichéd vampire novel and it has tons of entertaining twists and turns, action and humor to prove it.
Victoria Reeve is a popular, gorgeous, rich seventeen-year-old who works at a crisis center where she helps others deal with their everyday issues. Life is pretty mundane for her until she finds out she's getting a young new boss who happens to look like a model. Now her job seems a lot more enticing with a swoon worthy guy around but she just can't help but make herself look like a fool in front him. Even with her embarrassing ways Isaac Larsen still seems interested. Upon this new and unexpected relationship trouble starts to brew and Tori finds herself a target amongst some dangerously violent strangers. Fearing for her friends and family's lives along with her own she accidentally unravels some secrets that were better left buried.
Bad Blood really delivers an alluring story with excitingly interesting characters. Isaac, and Tori's best friend Drew are absolutely mouth-watering and their scenes are the best. I loved the chemistry and romance that develops with Victoria, and felt the pacing of the story was excellent. The cover doesn't even begin to capture how well done and amusing this book is! The only thing I felt lacking was the world-building and the open-endedness. I would absolutely love to see more books continue Tori's story as I feel there's much more to be answered and explored. Ginny Lurcock creates a captivating novel that is both enjoyable and unpredictably sexy! Overall Bad Blood is fantastically fun and creatively written, fans of vampires will devour it!
Synopsis:
High school senior
Victoria “Tori” Reeve has it pretty good. She’s rich, she’s smart, and
she’s popular. What more could a girl ask for? Sure, she’s a little
lonely, what with being single and her best friend going off to college
and all, but she’s got her work at the Spaulding Crisis Center to keep
her busy. When she gets a new boss in the very easy on the eyes form of
Isaac Larsen, suddenly her volunteer work feels a lot less like work.
Even if he does seem to cause Tori to break out into spontaneous fits of
foot in mouth disease. Somehow in spite of her blunderitis, Isaac still
seems to be interested in her in a more-than-employer or even
more-than-friends kind of way.
So really she should have known that things would go sideways.
Trouble comes to Spaulding, and that trouble seems to be centered on Tori and the Crisis Center. Is she really the focus? Or does this all have to do with the new mysterious man in her life? In her efforts to find out, Tori stumbles across some secrets. Skeletons that might have been better off left in the closet. As it turns out, Spaulding is a hot spot for bad blood…
