*Hey everyone! I'm super excited because today is my stop on the Smash Into You Blog Tour and I have an awesome Q&A interview with the author Shelly Crane!!*
~Author Interview~
Shelly is a NEW YORK TIMES & USA TODAY bestselling YA
author from a small town in Georgia and loves everything about the south. She
is wife to a fantastical husband and stay at home mom to two boisterous and
mischievous boys who keep her on her toes. She loves paperbacks, coffee, and candy corn, and to spend time with her family and friends,
go out to eat at new restaurants and site see in the new areas they travel to,
listen to music and also LOVES to read.
Her own books happen by accident and she revels in the writing and imagination process. She doesn't go anywhere without her notepad for fear of an idea creeping up and not being able to write it down immediately, even in the middle of the night, where her best ideas are born.

1. One of your books is already
heading to the big screen, if you had a say what other novel(s) of yours would
you like to see adapted into a film?
I received some interest about Wide Awake, and that definitely got me
thinking about that one. But ultimately, I always thought Collide would make a
great movie. It's full of action and lots of people and on the run and angst
and so, so much love between the couples. And kids. lol I think I would just
burst if Collide was picked up as well.
2. What's the biggest challenge you have had to face so far as an author?
2. What's the biggest challenge you have had to face so far as an author?
Criticism. I never really understood it and to get it on bad review is
going to happen to every single author out there, so eventually, that stopped
hurting as bad. And there are some who view other authors as enemies or
competition. But we're not. A reader reads all the time, they will never only
read one author, they read a book and then move on the next. There is nothing
wrong with sharing and giving a shout out to a favorite books and authors.
3. Which female character out of all your novels do you think you relate to most?
3. Which female character out of all your novels do you think you relate to most?
Probably…Maggie. She fell so hard and trusting. My husband and I fell in
love kinda similar to that. It was fast and we both knew this was it. Everyone
said we were crazy and too young. 12 years of happy marriage later, two kids
and four dogs, we're still proving those people wrong. Maggie trusted her heart
and did what she knew was right. That's who I always want to be.
4. Whose your fictional crush?

8. Did you ever have to spend a lot of time
researching for a scene?
Sometimes, yes. I constantly leave google up in the
background so I can get to it quickly.
9. Significance is well-loved by many, are there any plans for a spin-off series in the works? If not, why?
9. Significance is well-loved by many, are there any plans for a spin-off series in the works? If not, why?
I won't say that I'd never go back to it. I don't
have anything already 'in the works' for next but one book, the third Devour
book, Altered. I have several ideas for future books tough. I could maybe see
myself writing a spin-off with a new character. Would it be a book from
Maggie's POV like the rest? Nah, I really don't see that. But go back to the
series one day for something new and fresh? It's possible. I'm going to get
everything out that's already promised and then I'll see where I'm at.
10. What hobbies do you enjoy outside of writing?
10. What hobbies do you enjoy outside of writing?

11. Are there any upcoming projects you're most looking forward to?
11. Are there any upcoming projects you're most looking forward to?
Yes. Wide Open, Milo's story from the Wide Awake
series, is coming up and I'm very excited to delve into his story. he was a
little jerk in Wide Awake and I think people expect a certain thing from this
book. I'm hoping they'll be pleasantly surprised :)
