Top 5 Favorite Reads of 2013!

Happy New Year everyone!!

As we head into a new year we're also preparing for all of the new books and new authors that we will discover in 2014. This means making room on our overflowing bookshelves so that we can add more! Below I've shared a list of my top five favorite reads of 2013 and why they made the list!

My Top 5 Reads of 2013:

It's a chilling, expertly written, and captivating tale that's in Gaiman fashion—a maddeningly great novel. It'll give you goose bumps, and resonate. It's the best fictional work I've read all year!

(Bloodlines, #3)

I thought the Vampire Academy series was really good until I started the Bloodlines spin-off with Adrian. His mischievous nature and charm won me over, as well as Sydney's growth since her first appearance in VA. Where once she was frightened and helpless she's now strong and more confident. Each book tops the next and The Indigo Spell was phenomenal, but I didn't expect any less from Richelle Mead! She's fantastic at quality consistency story-telling!

(Sweet, Texas, #1)
by: Candis Terry

Anything But Sweet has it all. Character's you'll adore, Texan brothers who make it hard not to swoon over, feisty independent women, and genuine humor that will have you rolling. The entire town of Sweet, Texas is full of a community of people with stories to tell, and characters to love. It's the cutest, sweetest read of 2013.

(Starbound, #1)

This story broke my heart into a tiny million pieces and then glued them back together again. It's beautifully composed with alternating perspectives between the two main characters Lilac & Tarver. Set in the middle of space. It's dark, warped, and devastatingly mysterious. Tortuously addicting, and a crazy-good science fiction novel. Best of the lot.

(Summer, #2)

An Endless Summer is the Australian-written sequel to the fun, summery, and humorous Boys of Summer! The town of Onslow is beach central with hot guys, and gorgeous girls seeking a good time, friendship, and love. The Onslow boys are the town's resident hotties and each Summer novel is a different couple's story from the group. The second being about Amy and Sean who make an unpredictably sexy pair. It earns the place of favorite summer novel of the year!

  1. I am so sad that I haven't read any of these books! I own Indigo Spell because I got to meet the author at BEA, but I haven't started her series yet. These Broken Stars is also sitting on my shelves, collecting dust. And the Neil Gaiman book is also on my tbr list. Maybe in 2014!

    1. Yes! That's what the new year is for! That's really cool I was at BEA but the two times that I had the opportunity to meet Richelle Mead (who is my absolute favorite author) I ended up somewhere else. Maybe next time! If you've not read the Vampire Academy series I recommend reading it before the Bloodlines books because all the characters are introduced in VA. Really awesome reads. As for These Broken Stars and The Ocean at the End of the Lane both are super creepy, and fantastic. I hope you get to read them!! :)

Thanks so much Kate for stopping by,

      Happy New Year!!!
