Mortal Obligation (Mini-Review)

Mortal Obligation

(Dark Betrayal Trilogy, #1)

Release Date: July 29th, 2011
Genre(s): YA Paranormal/Fantasy

My Review: (4/5 stars*)

Mortal Obligation is fun, free, and simply fantastic. I devoured this book extremely quick. The characters are very likeable, and the plot itself intriguing. It had just a little bit of everything and has a refreshingly cool concept. Immortals/mortals with unique abilities, an intertwined story involving gods, just enough action, some mystery, and a dash of romance - what's not to love. The only negative thing I could find about this book is that it didn't have as much action as I would have preferred but overall a nice contribution to YA and PR. I'm greatly looking forward to the characters and story development in Mortal Defiance (Dark Betrayal Trilogy, #2).

SYNOPSIS:

Ree McKenna is a seventeen year old high school student hopelessly crushing on her brother's best friend. Before her brother's untimely death he made his best friend promise to look after Ree - like a sister. Seemingly ordinary Ree starts feeling the pressure of her past and present weighing her down. One night her life changes when her and her circle of friends get involved in an incident that changes all of there lives forever. Ree learns of her and her friends importance in a battle that has lasted many years and that the gods have chosen her to be the one to win the last. Mortal Ree and her friends must now face the reality of being human kind's only savior from the darkness that threatens the Earth; but at what cost?
