(Darkest Powers, #1)
Release Date: July 1st, 2008
Genre(s): YA Paranormal/Fantasy
My Review: (3.5/5 stars*)
The Summoning is a really compelling read. The
beginning is very intriguing and mysteriously creepy. Chloe Saunders
the main character of the story is a little naive, immature, yet
logical. Her power is interesting but you rarely see much of it. The
book as a whole held my attention and it took me less than 6 hours to
read. Overall I enjoyed it but it lacked consistent action. The
beginning and end were the best parts. Although simple the Summoning
made for an enjoyable read and will leave you wanting more.
SYNOPSIS:
Chloe
Saunders is a perfectly average fifteen-year-old until she sees a dead
person. Nobody believes her when she runs through her private art school
screaming bloody murder to get it away from her. That's how she ends up
at a home for teenagers with issues. Everything appears normal as she
falls into a routine-until she starts questioning strange things around
Lyle House. How long will she be locked away here? What exactly is wrong
with her housemates that they ended up in this place? The answers are
even more strange and frightening than she could have imagined. Old
secrets loom beneath Lyle House, and Chloe starts to realize maybe her
being sent there wasn't a coincidence.
