~ Waiting on Wednesday (WoW) is a weekly meme post hosted by: Jill
from Breaking the Spine that showcases not-yet-released books that I'm eagerly
awaiting to read!
~
I'm waiting for:
(The Dark Elements, #1)
Release Date: February 25th, 2014
Genre(s): YA Paranormal/Romance
Synopsis:
One kiss could be the last.
Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses.
Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever.
Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul.
But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

Why am I waiting?
Gargoyles aren't the most written about paranormal creatures, and that's really exciting! I love books that focus on obscure beings that aren't normally explored in works like the all-too-familiar vampires, angels, and werewolves of literature. Though I love them there are way too many books on each already (change things up!). Gargoyles are peculiar—known for being grotesque—beings and the main heroine Layla is half gargoyle and half demon with rare abilities, I'm fascinated to see what they are and how she deals with being half of both races. Layla's heritage already puts her in a league of her own, and it appears she has two guys in tow. Some people hate love triangles but I think it'll make things interesting when she has to choose. White Hot Kiss has gargoyles and demons, two more-than-likely attractive love interests, and a brewing uprising. I'm going to be flocking to this one once it's out!

Definitely! I like different and with gargoyles tossed in the mix I think this will be a pretty cool YA. :)
